Benefits of Napping

Grab a quick nap to recharge, look fresher, feel better (but not to replace a good night’s sleep)

There is a distinct pleasure in taking a short nap during the day, and there are several very good reasons to nap beyond it being such an awesome pure and guilt-free experience. According to various sources, grabbing a few winks, especially on a really comfortable mattress and box spring set like our McRoskey byDesign, has distinct health benefits.

The health benefits of napping (and getting good rest in general) include:

  • Napping may reduce the risk of heart attack.
  • Napping may reduce stress. When you are tired, you may overreact to even relatively normal situations, creating stress that can lead to more stress. Taking a fast break and grabbing a few ZZZs can help you handle small and more major life stressors in a different way.
  • Napping can increase memory and boost productivity. The brain needs to be recharged on a regular basis to work best and allow you to work at full capacity.
  • Napping can help preserve youthful appearance. When you need sleep, your system is not working at full capacity. Taking a nap will help to power your system back up to deliver blood, oxygen and moisture to all your organs, including your epidermis.
  • Napping can help promote weight loss, or maintaining a healthy weight. We all know that when we are tired, we tend to not eat as well. When our bodies are tired from lack of sleep, we are not nearly as discriminating about what we eat, and often tend to eat more.

A short nap can help to refresh our energy sources often far better than energy derived from the wrong types of food.

A Few Tips for Better Napping:

  • Prime time: between 1:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Go dark. Nap in a dark room or wear an eye mask
  • Make it quick – 20 – 30 minutes max
  • Nap regularly

Keep in mind that napping should not replace a good night’s rest on your McRoskey mattress.
